The Strategic Steering Committee was placed in charge of creating a five year UL Lafayette Strategic Plan. The plan is set to aid the growth of the University in a nationally competitive environment. By updating the previous UL Strategic Plan, the University will be able to increase active learning opportunities.

The University's previous strategic plan provided support and enhancements to campus computing and network facilities. Although the 2009-2014 plan provided a great foundation for future strategic plans; current research has been developed in the hopes of further enhancing the campus. By the end of the newest strategic plan, the University would like to see 90% of classrooms become tech-friendly. This will not be an easy task, which is why the committee has spent hours of extensive research in order to plan the best way to achieve this goal.

After a campus analysis, the committee identified four areas of priority: student experience, faculty resources, cutting-edge research, and improving the governance structure. Utilizing the concepts of the previous UL strategic plan, the committee was able to propose several updates to the current five-year plan. For students, this means changing experiences to ensure academic success. UL Lafayette will make recruiting and retaining students until graduation a top priority. The plan even proposes incentives to student's who decide to enter UL Graduate programs. Defining a plan for co-curricular activities for students is also high on the committees to do list.

Creating and preparing the finalized University Strategic Plan has been a tactical process. A process of which will help pave the way for the future of the University. Both undergrad and grad students of UL Lafayette can be certain that the new strategic plan will benefit them and the campus greatly in the years to come.
